This small and intimate ante-natal pilates class is tailored to suit your individual needs as you progress along your pregnancy journey. As your body adjusts to your growing baby, you may feel aches and pains in your back, abdomen, groin area, and thighs. Many women also have backaches and aching near the pelvic bone due to the pressure of the baby’s head, increased weight, and loosening joints.
At Live Well, our main focus of ante-natal pilates is to keep you (and your baby) healthy, strong and ready for birth and beyond. Utilising knowledge of physiotherapy and exercise physiology, Live Well has designed pregnancy pilates classes modified for the safety of you and your baby. Our classes help you to release tension and to strengthen key areas within the body to support your pregnancy, particularly the lower back, pelvis and legs. It’s also a great way to meet other Mums to be/current Mums and share similar experiences.
We would advise that if you are particularly struggling with aches and pains in your lower back and pelvis, or from incontinence issues, pilates will help you but you may also benefit from a one-to-one Live Well pregnancy assessment. Pelvic girdle pain and incontinence can develop at any stage of your pregnancy and can respond very well to physiotherapy techniques in combination with pilates.
While there are countless benefits to practising ante-natal pilates, we do recommend that you check with your GP first that you are fit to exercise.
